The Smart HUD on GGPoker is a feature that provides players with real-time statistics and insights on their own play and that of their opponents during games.

It is a useful tool that helps provide all players with the same level of information, which can be used to assess opponents and help make in-game decisions based on player tendencies.

HUD stands for Heads Up Display. It is a box of information that appears on your screen when you click on the avatar of your opponents, displaying various relevant statistics and allowing you to learn information about specific playing behaviours of adversaries.

It includes key statistics on how often players choose to put money in the pot, how often they make a continuation bet on the flop and many other common situations that occur in poker.

As commercial HUDs and poker tracking software are not allowed on GGPoker, the Smart HUD feature is the only way to track your own statistics and those of your opponents.

Unlike most commercial poker tracking software, the information displayed about opponents is only relevant to the current session, with the exception of lifetime prize money and some basic details about their last five results.

However, while the Smart HUD only displays recent statistics on opponents, it does keep a full record of your own playing statistics. This is useful, as it enables you to easily compare whether your current session is in-line with your overall statistics.

How to Use Smart HUD on GGPoker

The Smart HUD is automatically available when you download GGPoker. It appears as a block next to each player's nickname at the table.

By default, the HUD shows key statistics like VPIP (Voluntarily Put Money In Pot) for each player, helping you to understand the playing style of your opponents.

Clicking on a player's nickname opens a more detailed profile, showing additional statistics and notes you may have taken on that player. This includes past performance, tendencies and behaviour patterns.

The HUD also provides visual cues like flames or ice around the block to indicate whether a player is running hot or cold in recently played pots.

    Guide to Smart HUD Terminology

    • VPIP (Voluntarily Put Money In Pot): Indicates the percentage of hands in which a player has voluntarily put money into the pot. This can help to determine how tight or loose a player is.
    • PFR (Pre-Flop Raise): The percentage of hands in which a player raised pre-flop, indicating their aggressiveness in the opening round of betting.
    • 3BET (Three-Bet): The percentage of hands in which a player made a three-bet (a re-raise)
    • TAF (Total Aggression Frequency): Calculated as (Bet + Raise)/Call, this measures how aggressive a player is post-flop.
    • CB (Continuation Bet): The percentage of times a player makes a continuation bet after being the pre-flop aggressor. A continuation bet is when the pre-flop raiser makes a bet after the flop has been dealt.
    • WTSD (Went to Showdown): The percentage of hands in which a player goes to showdown after seeing the flop.
    • W$SD (Won Money at Showdown): The percentage of showdowns won by the player.
    • Hands: The total number of hands tracked for the player.

GGPoker Smart HUD Tips and Tricks

By effectively utilising the Smart HUD, you can gain a significant advantage at the tables, leveraging statistical analysis to enhance your poker strategy and performance.

Here are a few tips to help you use Smart HUD on GGPoker:

Profile Analysis: Use the Smart HUD to profile opponents quickly. For example, a high VPIP and low PFR might indicate a loose-passive player. This can be particularly helpful when facing a big decision, enabling you to gain insight into whether your opponent is bluffing or likely to have the goods.

Adjust Strategy: Adapt your strategy based on the HUD stats. For example, against tight players (low VPIP), you can adopt a more aggressive strategy. Against loose players (high VPIP), you can value-bet more often, to extract maximum value from you hand.

Track Your Own Statistics: Use the HUD to monitor your own statistics to identify and correct any weak spots in your game.

It is worth pointing out that there are certain occasions when you should disregard Smart HUD statistics.
At the beginning of a tournament, most of the data on the Smart HUD can be ignored. With only a few hands played, the statistics will not give an accurate indication of player tendencies. This is not the time to start assessing your opponents VPIP rate or pay much attention to their CBet stats.

Smart HUD is most useful in the latter stages of a tournament, when enough hands have been played for the information to be meaningful.

Benefits of Using GGPoker Smart HUD

The Smart HUD helps you make informed decisions based on statistical evidence rather than just intuition. You can gain insights into opponents’ playing styles, helping you exploit their weaknesses and strengths.

Statistics are updated in real-time, giving you the most current information during your sessions.
