While the vast majority of players travel to Las Vegas only to return home with lighter wallets, a central question remains: how did the World Series of Poker perform as an operator?

While poker fans eagerly await the Main Event final table, a detailed analysis conducted by pokerfuse has broken down the figures behind the series, offering a complete picture of total entries, prize pools, and tournament fees.

This year's World Series of Poker set an all-time record by attracting a total of 251,899 entries. This figure includes both initial buy-ins and re-entries across all events, though exact statistics regarding unique individual participants remain unavailable.

The overall record was achieved despite several individual events experiencing a contraction in field size compared to previous editions.

Driven by these massive entry numbers, the series awarded $469.9 million in total prize money. A significant portion of that total came from the flagship event of the summer:

The $10,000 buy-in tournament stood as the fourth biggest Main Event in history.
The Main Event alone generated an $85.6 million prize pool.
This single tournament accounted for nearly one-sixth of the entire prize money distributed across the entire series.

The most striking figure from the data lies in the fees collected directly from the players. In total, $47.3 million was collected in tournament fees across the entire event schedule.

From the overall $47.3 million collected, the breakdown shows:

$33.1 million was retained directly by the World Series as operator revenue.
$14.2 million was allocated and paid out to staff members and tournament operators.

These massive figures stand out sharply to observers, particularly given the notable number of dealer and tournament director errors reported throughout the summer.

To put that sum into perspective, the rake generated from the Main Event is roughly equal to the payout reserved for the second-place finisher.

While these revenue and rake figures appear extreme at first glance, they reflect the sheer scale of the operation. The World Series of Poker remains the longest-running continuous tournament series in the world.

The majority of its scheduled events regularly attract field sizes in the thousands, with select marquee lower-buy-in tournaments drawing fields well into the tens of thousands.
